Abstract

Hypertension (HTN) and osteoporosis are associated with the development and progress of atherosclerosis. However, little research has been conducted to examine the relationship between arterial stiffness and bone mineral density (BMD) in men with HTN. This cross-sectional study recruited 355 men with HTN and 353 control patients without HTN. Brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) and BMD measurements were performed. BMD was decreased and baPWV was elevated in patients with HTN compared with control patients (femoral neck [FN] BMD in the HTN and control groups were 0.662±0.195 g/cm
