1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a type of systemic autoimmune arthritis that causes joint inflammation and destruction. One of the pathological mechanisms of RA is known to involve histone acetylation. Although the histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor suberoylanilide hydroxamic acid (SAHA) can attenuate arthritis in animal models of RA, the mechanism underlying this effect is poorly understood. This study was performed to examine whether SAHA has therapeutic potential in an animal model of RA and to investigate its mechanism of action. Collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) mice were orally administered SAHA daily for 8 weeks and examined for their arthritis score and incidence of arthritis. CD4
