1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

The mRNA cap-binding protein, eIF4E, mediates the recognition of the mRNA 5' end and, as part of the heterotrimeric eIF4F complex, facilitates the recruitment of the ribosomal subunits to initiate eukaryotic translation. Various regulatory events involving eIF4E and a second eIF4F subunit, eIF4G, are required for proper control of translation initiation. In pathogenic trypanosomatids, six eIF4Es and five eIF4Gs have been described, several forming different eIF4F-like complexes with yet unresolved roles. EIF4E5 is one of the least known of the trypanosomatid eIF4Es and has not been characterized in
