1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

Immunotherapy based on two checkpoint inhibitors (ICI), programmed cell death 1 (PD-1, Nivolumab) and cytotoxic T-lymphocyte 4 (CTLA-4, Ipilimumab), has provided a significant improvement in overall survival for malignant mesothelioma (MM). Despite this major breakthrough, the median overall survival of patients treated with the two ICIs only reached 18.1 months vs. 14 months in standard chemotherapy. With an objective response rate of 40%, only a subset of patients benefits from immunotherapy. A critical step in the success of immunotherapy is the presentation of tumor-derived peptides by the major histocompatibility complex I (MHC-I) of tumor cells. These neoantigens are potentially immunogenic and trigger immune responses orchestrated by cytotoxic cells. In MM, tumor development is nevertheless characterized by a low mutation rate despite major structural chromosomal rearrangements driving oncogenesis (
