1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

Polyamine (PA) catabolism is often reduced in cancer cells. The activation of this metabolic pathway produces cytotoxic substances that might cause apoptosis in cancer cells. Chemical compounds able to restore the level of PA catabolism in tumors could become potential antineoplastic agents. The search for activators of PA catabolism among bicyclononan-9-ones is a promising strategy for drug development. The aim of the study was to evaluate the biological activity of new 3,7-diazabicyclo[3.3.1]nonan-9-one derivatives that have antiproliferative properties by accelerating PA catabolism. Eight bispidine derivatives were synthetized and demonstrated the ability to activate PA catabolism in regenerating rat liver homogenates. However, only three of them demonstrated a potent ability to decrease the viability of cancer cells in the MTT assay. Compounds
