1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

backgroundGlioma is the most common malignant tumor in the central nervous system. In patients with glioma, the prognosis is poor and median survival is only 12-15 months. With the recent development of sequencing technology, important roles of noncoding RNAs are being discovered in cells, especially those of circular RNAs (circRNAs). Because circRNAs are stable, abundant, and highly conserved, they are regarded as novel biomarkers in the early diagnosis and prognosis of diseases. PURPOSE: In this review, roles and mechanisms of circRNAs in the development of glioma are summarized.

methodsThis paper collects and reviews relevant PubMed literature.

conclusionSeveral classes of circRNAs are highly expressed in glioma and are associated with malignant biological behaviors of gliomas, including proliferation, migration, invasion, apoptosis, angiogenesis, and drug resistance. Further studies are needed to clarify the roles of circRNAs in glioma and to determine whether it is possible to increase therapeutic effects on tumors through circRNA intervention.
