Pre-operative prognostic nutrition index and post-operative pneumonia in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage patients.
Article in Frontiers in neurology, 2023. The graph could read no effect estimate from its abstract, so it casts no vote on the map. Cited by 11 papers, 1 of them a synthesis that pooled it.
What it found
Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.
The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.
The trial behind it
Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.
Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract
Background and objective: Post-operative pneumonia (POP), a common complication, may be associated with prolonged hospitalization and long-term mortality in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) patients. This study aimed to explore the association between pre-operative prognostic nutrition index (PNI) and POP in aSAH patients. Methods: A total of 280 aSAH patients were enrolled from Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital. PNI was calculated as follows: [10 × albumin(gr/dl)] + [0.005 × absolute pre-operative lymphocyte count (per mm Results: Pre-operative PNI levels in the POP group were higher, compared with the non-POP group (41.0 [39.0, 45.4] vs. 44.4 [40.5, 47.3], Conclusion: The lower levels of pre-operative PNI may be associated with the higher incidence of POP in aSAH patients. Neurosurgeons are supposed to pay more attention to pre-operative nutrition status in aSAH patients.
