1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

objectiveThis study aims to explore the correlation between the free-triiodothyronine (FT3)-to-free-thyroxine (FT4) ratio (FT3/FT4) and diabetic kidney disease (DKD) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

methodsThis study retrospectively analyzed 1729 patients with T2DM hospitalized in the Department of Endocrinology, Peking University International Hospital, from January 2017 to August 2021, including 1075 males and 654 females. In accordance with the FT3/FT4, the patients were divided into three groups.

results(1) The levels of glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c), fasting blood glucose (FBG) and postprandial blood glucose (PBG) among the three groups were significantly different, with the low FT3/FT4 group having the highest HbA1c, FBG and PBG among the three groups (F = 39.39,

conclusionA decrease in the FT3/FT4 is an independent predictor of DKD occurrence in patients with T2DM.
