Cardiac autonomic dysfunction and structural remodeling: the potential mechanism to mediate the relationship between obstructive sleep apnea and cardiac arrhythmias.
Article in Frontiers in medicine, 2024. The graph could read no effect estimate from its abstract, so it casts no vote on the map. Cited by 4 papers.
What it found
Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.
The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.
The trial behind it
Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.
Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract
Background: Cardiac arrhythmias are very common in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), especially atrial fibrillation (AF) and nonsustained ventricular tachycardia (NVST). Cardiac autonomic dysfunction and structural remodeling caused by OSA provide the milieu for cardiac arrhythmia development. This study aimed to determine whether OSA is associated with various cardiac arrhythmias and investigate potential pathophysiologic pathways between them. Methods: The analysis covered 600 patients with clinical suspicion of OSA hospitalized in Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University between January 2020 and May 2023. After undergoing sleep apnea monitor, all subjects received laboratory tests, Holter electrocardiography, and Echocardiography. Results: Compared with those without OSA and adjusting for potential confounders, subjects with moderate OSA had three times the odds of AF (odds ratio [OR] 3.055; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.002-9.316; Conclusion: This study demonstrated that severe OSA was independently associated with AF and NSVT, and this association was mediated by autonomic nervous system changes and cardiac structural remodeling.
