Abstract

purposeTo evaluate the effect of propylene glycol mannate sulfate (PGMS) on retinopathy in non-proliferative diabetic patients.

methodsEighty patients (111 eyes) with non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy were selected and retrospectively analyzed. Patients were divided into a control group (40 cases, 56 eyes) and an experimental group (40 cases, 55 eyes) using a random number table method. The control group continued had routine blood glucose management, while the experimental group received PGMS 100 mg additionally TID for 60 days. Changes in visual acuity, fundus conditions including hemorrhage points and exudation in each quadrant, and non-perfusion area were revealed through fundus angiography before and after the treatment period.
