Effect of acupuncture combined with auricular beanembedding on autonomic nervous system function, heart rate variability and mental state of migraine patients.
Article in American journal of translational research, 2024. The graph could read no effect estimate from its abstract, so it casts no vote on the map. Cited by 4 papers.
What it found
Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.
The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.
The trial behind it
Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.
Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract
objectiveTo analyze the effects of acupuncture combined with auricular bean embedding on autonomic nervous dysfunction, heart rate variability and psychological state of migraine patients.
methodSixty migraine patients admitted to our hospital from August 2022 to June 2023 were selected for this retrospective study. Based on their treatment protocols, the patients were divided into the acupuncture alone group (control group) and acupuncture combined with auricular bean embedding group (observation group), with 30 cases in each group. The clinical effects in the two groups were compared. The heart rate variability (low-frequency power, high-frequency power, standard deviation of all normal sinus intervals) of patients between the two groups after treatment was compared. The SF-McGill Pain Questionnaire (SF-MPQ) scores were compared between the two groups before and after treatment, as were psychological scores using the Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAM-A) and quality of life (QOL) scores. The autonomic nervous dysfunction was also compared between the two groups before and after treatment.
resultsThe observation group showed superior clinical efficacy compared to the control group (χ
conclusionAcupuncture combined with auricular bean embedding effectively improves autonomic nervous dysfunction, enhances the activity of the autonomic nervous system, including both sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves, restores autonomic nerve balance, and relieves clinical symptoms of migraine patients. It also demonstrates significant therapeutic efficacy and holds substantial value in clinical application and warrants promotion.
