1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

backgroundResistance to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) significantly limits the efficacy of immunotherapy in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the mechanisms underlying immunotherapy resistance remain poorly understood. Our aim was to clarify the role of membrane-associated ring-CH-type finger 3 (MARCHF3) in HCC within the framework of anti-programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) therapy.

methodsMARCHF3 was identified in the transcriptomic profiles of HCC tumors exhibiting different responses to ICIs. In humans, the correlation between MARCHF3 expression and the tumor microenvironment (TME) was assessed via multiplex immunohistochemistry. In addition, MARCHF3 expression in tumor cells and immune cell infiltration were assessed by flow cytometry.

resultsMARCHF3 was significantly upregulated in tumors from patients who responded to ICIs. Increased MARCHF3 expression in HCC cells promoted dendritic cell (DC) maturation and stimulated CD8

conclusionsMARCHF3 has emerged as a pivotal regulator of the immune landscape in the HCC TME and is a potent predictive biomarker for HCC. Combining interventions targeting the DNA damage response with ICIs is a promising treatment strategy for HCC.
