The aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) and the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) are ligand-activated transcription factors that have in recent years been investigated for their anti-inflammatory properties for treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs).
