Demographic and dietary determinants of the association between dietary fibre intake and obesity in Japanese adults with type 2 diabetes: a cross-sectional study (JDDM 78).
Article in Public health nutrition, 2025. The graph could read no effect estimate from its abstract, so it casts no vote on the map. Cited by 2 papers.
What it found
Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.
The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.
The trial behind it
Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.
Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract
objectiveTo evaluate the association between dietary fibre intake and obesity in Japanese outpatients with type 2 diabetes, as well as the demographic and dietary factors influencing this association.
designCross-sectional study with nationwide registry data on Japanese type 2 diabetes outpatients (2014–2019). Diet was self-reported via a FFQ. Obesity was defined as BMI ≥ 25 kg/m
settingClinics throughout Japan.
participants1565 Japanese outpatients with type 2 diabetes (63·1 % men; age range 30–89 years).
resultsMultivariate analysis revealed that a higher dietary fibre intake was associated with a lower risk of obesity in all participants (95 % CI = 0·439, 0·795,
conclusionHigher fibre intake was associated with lower obesity risk, particularly in men and older age groups. These findings emphasise the need for targeted public health initiatives promoting the intake of diverse fibre-rich foods to effectively manage obesity. Further research is needed to understand sex- and age-specific factors in the fibre–obesity relationship in diverse populations.
