1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

introductionIn healthcare centers with limited resources, or for patients who prefer to make continuous changes in their treatment themselves and do not want to rely solely on technology, intermittent glucose monitoring (isCGM) with an insulin pump is a viable option that warrants further study. MATERIAL AND

methodsprospective single-center study that collected data at 3 months and after isCGM implantation in pediatric patients with Type 1 diabetes, categorized according to their insulin regimen.

resultsWe found statistically significant differences in the time in range (TIR) between 70 and 180 mg/dl at 3 months after using the sensor (

conclusionsWe found statistically significant differences in favor of CSII over MDI in terms of metabolic control after one year of isCGM use. However, the TIR values were still below the range considered to be indicative of good control. These findings lead us to question whether CSII should be initially considered in specific cases where HCL is not possible, or if it would be more effective to wait until the patient is ready, or the necessary resources are available to start directly CSII integrated in a closed loop system.
