1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

backgroundIn recent years, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been noted to possess unique advantages in fracture treatment. In our previous studies, we have demonstrated that Huo Xue Tong Luo capsule (HXTL) promotes osteogenesis and inhibits osteoporosis. However, the effect of the HXTL on fracture healing has not been studied.

methodsMouse bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) were isolated and cultured. Western blotting, quantitative RT-PCR, immunohistochemical staining, immunofluorescence staining, and RNA-seq analysis were applied to detect the levels of genes or proteins. The mouse femoral fracture model was used to investigate the effect of HXTL on fracture healing.

resultsIn this study, our in vitro experiments confirmed that HXTL could enhance the proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of MSCs in a dose-dependent manner. Then, we established femur fracture healing model using the Prx1-CreERT

conclusionTaken together, our results showed that HXTL epigenetically activated β-catenin, promoted Prx1-lineage cells proliferation and endochondral bone formation during fracture healing, which provides insights into the potential therapeutic application of HXTL in bone regeneration and fracture healing.
