1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

Objective: To investigate risk factors for delayed neurological deterioration (1-year mRS score > 90-day score) in patients with acute ischemic stroke due to vertebrobasilar artery occlusion (VBAO) after endovascular treatment (EVT), and to evaluate heterogeneity across age and sex subgroups. Methods: This multicenter retrospective study included 1,342 VBAO patients who underwent EVT between December 2015 and June 2022. Based on dynamic changes in the mRS score, patients were categorized into a 1-year functional deterioration group ( Results: After adjusting for demographics and clinical variables, the following factors were independently associated with 1-year functional deterioration (all Conclusion: This study revealed that the functional outcomes of patients with VBAO from 90 days to 1 year after EVT exhibit distinct patterns, with the dominant influencing factors varying by gender and age group. This provides an important basis for the formulation of individualized treatment strategies.
