Efficacy and Methodology of Remote Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback Interventions for Mental Health: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Review in Applied psychophysiology and biofeedback, 2025. The graph could read no effect estimate from its abstract, so it casts no vote on the map. Cited by 2 papers.
What it found
Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.
The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.
The trial behind it
Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.
Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract
Heart rate variability biofeedback (HRV-B) is a technique that has been shown to have benefits for both physical and mental health conditions. The aim of the present systematic review and meta-analysis is to describe the methodological approach and examine the efficacy of remote HRV-B interventions for mental health symptoms, including depression, stress, anxiety, and sleep as well as heart rate variability (HRV), a measure of autonomic function. A systematic literature search was conducted from five databases and eighteen studies with a total of 1352 subjects from different populations were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis based on the inclusion criteria. Meta-analysis showed a medium effect size of HRV-B for improving both depression (g = - 0.41 [- 0.049, - 0.772], p = 0.026, I
