Abstract

Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is essential for neuronal development, differentiation and survival, and aberrant BDNF expression in retina is associated with glaucoma. Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ) in retinal pigment epithelium plays a significant role in ocular pathophysiology.
