Lysine crotonylation enhances fungal effector activity and promotes invasion of host plants.
Article in Plant communications, 2026. The graph could read no effect estimate from its abstract, so it casts no vote on the map. Cited by 2 papers.
What it found
Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.
The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.
The trial behind it
Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.
Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract
Phytopathogenic fungi secrete a large arsenal of effectors to facilitate host infection; however, the mechanisms regulating the activity of these virulence proteins remain elusive. Here, we show that at least 86 putative effectors in the fungal pathogen Fusariumoxysporum f. sp. lycopersici are crotonylated within their enzymatic domains, as revealed by proteomic analysis. Crotonylation of a chitinase and two plant cell wall-degrading enzymes by the fungus-specific crotonyltransferase FolRtt109 enhances their enzymatic activities and consequently promotes fungal invasion. Conversely, application of an Rtt109 inhibitor attenuates effector activity, leading to reduced fungal virulence. Notably, this inhibitor exhibits broad-spectrum efficiency against multiple phytopathogenic fungi without detectable adverse effects on host plant seedlings. Collectively, these findings demonstrate that crotonylation regulates effector activity in plant fungal pathogens to influence virulence and highlight the potential of targeting this modification as a fungicide strategy for plant disease control.
