Effect of resected gastric volume on weight loss after sleeve gastrectomy: A retrospective clinical study.
Article in World journal of gastrointestinal surgery, 2025. The graph could read no effect estimate from its abstract, so it casts no vote on the map. Not yet cited in PubMed.
What it found
Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.
The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.
The trial behind it
Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.
Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract
backgroundObesity is a major global health concern associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Sleeve gastrectomy is an effective bariatric surgery; however, the impact of resected gastric volume (RGV) on postoperative weight loss remains controversial.
aimTo evaluate the effect of RGV on weight loss and body mass index (BMI) changes in patients undergoing sleeve gastrectomy.
methodsThis retrospective study included 49 patients. Preoperative and postoperative body weight and BMI (at 6 months and 12 months after surgery) were recorded. RGV was calculated using the ellipsoid formula based on the specimen's length, width, and thickness measurements. Statistical analyses included parametric tests, repeated-measures one-way analysis of variance, Bonferroni post-hoc tests, and Pearson correlation analysis.
resultsBoth body weight and BMI significantly decreased over time (weight:
conclusionRGV correlated with preoperative weight but not with postoperative outcomes, indicating that weight loss after sleeve gastrectomy is a multifactorial process and influenced by hormonal, metabolic, and lifestyle factors.
