1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

objectivesTo explore the mechanism of

methodsSD rat models of UC were randomized into 5 groups (

resultsThe rat models of UC showed obvious colonic mucosal damage with massive inflammatory cell infiltration, increased IL-6 and IL-17 levels and lowered IL-10 level in both the serum and colonic tissues, reduced expression levels of occludin and ZO-1, increased Th17 and lowered Treg cell percentages, increased RORγt mRNA and protein expressions, and reduced Foxp3 mRNA and protein expressions in the colonic tissue. Treatment with XZJD significantly alleviated inflammatory response in the colonic mucosa and effectively reversed the changes in IL-6, IL-17 and IL-10 levels, expressions of occludin and ZO-1, percentages of Th17 and Treg cells, and the expressions of RORγt and Foxp3 in the colonic tissues of UC rats.

conclusionsXZJD can alleviate pathologies in the colonic mucosa in UC rats possibly by regulating Th17/Treg immune balance.
