Abstract

Background: Children with congenital heart disease (CHD) require long-term home care. Mobile health apps offer a new approach for home care support, but they face challenges of low user engagement and insufficient sustained usage rates. Purpose: Identify and analyze the essential functional features of mobile health apps supporting home care for children with CHD; examine their design strategies based on the Persuasive System Design (PSD) model. Methods: Based on the framework of Arksey and O'Malley's scoping review and the PRISMA-ScR guidelines, a systematic search was conducted in major domestic and international databases. The search scope encompassed studies published between 2010 and 2026 concerning mHealth apps supporting home care for children with CHD. The app design features were coded based on the 28 principles of the PSD model. Results: A total of 22 studies were included. Conclusion: Apps for CHD family care performed adequately in information delivery and credibility support but showed significant deficiencies in motivational incentives, social support, and emotional connection.
