Comparison of the distribution and functional significance of myocardial fibroblast activation and inflammation in reperfused ST-elevation myocardial infarction.
Article in Quantitative imaging in medicine and surgery, 2026. The graph could read no effect estimate from its abstract, so it casts no vote on the map. Not yet cited in PubMed.
What it found
Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.
The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.
The trial behind it
Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.
Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract
Background: Myocardial inflammation and fibroblast activation are key processes in post-infarction remodeling after ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). However, their relative contributions and functional implications remain incompletely understood, particularly in patients undergoing successful primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). This study aimed to compare the extent and functional significance of myocardial fibroblast activation and inflammation using positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in patients with STEMI after successful PCI. Methods: Two groups of STEMI patients (n=10 per group) after primary PCI were retrospectively selected from two prospective studies at our institution. The two groups were matched for infarct size, age, and gender. They underwent fibroblast activation imaging with Results: The extent and mismatch ratio of Conclusions: Fibroblast activation and inflammation exhibit similar spatial distribution beyond the infarct zone at the acute stage following STEMI. However, their associations with circulating biomarkers differ, implying divergent pathophysiological mechanisms and clinical implications. Although both processes are associated with global cardiac function, their regional impacts differ substantially, particularly between infarct and peri-infarct zones.
