1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

Objective: To characterize the population pharmacokinetics (PPK) of intravenous colistin sulfate in critically ill patients with pneumonia and explore dosing strategies using model-based simulations. Methods: Ten ICU patients receiving intravenous colistin sulfate for ≥72 h were enrolled. Serial plasma samples were collected after the fifth dose, and unbound concentrations were measured by Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Population pharmacokinetic modeling and Monte Carlo simulations were performed. Results: A total of 130 plasma concentrations were analyzed. Non-compartmental analysis showed a mean C Conclusion: Colistin sulfate pharmacokinetics in critically ill patients were adequately described by a two-compartment model incorporating renal function. These exploratory findings support renal function-guided dosing and suggest a potential role for loading doses, but larger studies are needed to confirm dosing recommendations.
