In Chinese folk medicine, lily bulbs have traditionally been used to help lower blood glucose levels. Numerous studies have demonstrated that extracts from lily bulbs possess significant hypoglycemic activity. However, the specific active metabolites and their underlying mechanisms remain unclear.
