1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

objectivesTo translate the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-ELD14 (EORTC QLQ-ELD14) into Chinese and validate its effectiveness in China.

methodsThe Chinese version was developed through a rigorous translation and back-translation process based on the Brislin model, followed by cross-cultural adaptation through expert consultation. A total of 260 elderly cancer patients from a tertiary hospital in Tianjin were recruited between June 2024 and February 2025 to evaluate the instrument's reliability and validity.

resultsAmong the 248 completed responses, the Chinese version of the EORTC QLQ-ELD14 demonstrated robust psychometric properties. The questionnaire comprises 7 dimensions (14 items), with item-level content validity indices ranging from 0.800 to 1.000 and a scale-level content validity index of 0.980. Exploratory factor analysis identified 7 underlying factors, accounting for 82.913% of the cumulative variance. Internal consistency was excellent, with a Cronbach's SIGNIFICANCE OF

resultsThe Chinese version of the EORTC QLQ-ELD14 has good reliability and validity, which is suitable for evaluating the quality of life of elderly cancer patients within Chinese cultural contexts.
