1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

Context: Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) is the conventional irrigating agent used in endodontics for the removal of the smear layer. However, its propensity for periapical irritation may frequently exacerbate postoperative pain in single-visit endodontics. In contrast, chitosan nanoparticles (CNPs) serve as a superior, biocompatible alternative that facilitates effective removal of the smear layer. Consequently, this study evaluates the effect of CNPs and EDTA on postoperative pain following single-visit root canal therapy. Aims: This study compares the effect of 0.2% nanochitosan and 17% EDTA in postoperative pain reduction when used as the final irrigant in symptomatic irreversible pulpitis. Subjects and Methods: Forty patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis were randomly assigned to two groups ( Statistical Analysis Used: Data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 ( Results: Both groups demonstrated a highly significant, progressive pain reduction from baseline to 72 h. The CNP group consistently recorded lower mean pain scores overall, with a statistically significant difference observed at the 12-h evaluation ( Conclusions: While both agents effectively reduced postoperative pain, 0.2% CNPs proved to be a clinically superior alternative to EDTA, offering better pain mitigation and structural dentin preservation.
