1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

As scientific evidence on blood pressure reduction in patients with chronic stroke accumulates year by year, target blood pressure levels recommended in guidelines, both in Japan and internationally, have tended to become lower. In addition, with respect to antihypertensive strategies, the Japanese Society of Hypertension Guidelines for the Management of Elevated Blood Pressure and Hypertension 2025 (JSH2025) assign a higher level of recommendation to the angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitor and mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist, in addition to the conventional first-line major drugs. In patients with resistant hypertension, renal denervation can be clinically used in Japan from 2026. However, the effect of stroke prevention in these newer drugs or renal denervation remains unclear and should be further elucidated. Recommendations for blood pressure management in acute-phase stroke, particularly ischemic stroke without receiving reperfusion therapy, remain unsettled, despite the fact that the validity of relatively strict blood pressure targets has been examined in multiple clinical trials to date. Target blood pressure for stroke patients and stepwise approach to blood pressure-lowering treatment.
