1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

Objective: To calculate Odds Ratio for Metabolic Dysfunction Associated Steatosic Liver Disease (MASLD) in individuals with hepatic steatosis on ultrasound examination. Methodology: This case-control study was conducted in Department of Medicine, Dr. Ruth KM Pfau, Civil Hospital Karachi, Pakistan during the period 16 Results: A total of ninety-two patients/subjects fulfilling criteria were included in study, these included 37 (40.2%) males and 55 (59.8%) females. Weight and BMI were significantly higher in the Steatotic Group. Significantly higher frequencies of hypertension, metabolic syndrome and overweight were found in the Steatotic Group. Odds ratio calculation showed that the risk of metabolic syndrome in patients having hepatic steatosis was 7.273 times higher than in patients who do not have hepatic steatosis. Conclusion: Odds of developing Metabolic Dysfunction Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD) in patients who have hepatic steatosis on ultrasound are very high. Steps should be taken to prevent this complication by early identification and management.
