Pain, quality of life, and functional outcomes of total hip arthroplasty in female patients with crowe type III-IV developmental dysplasia of hip: retrospective cohort study.
Article in Archives of orthopaedic and trauma surgery, 2026. The graph could read no effect estimate from its abstract, so it casts no vote on the map. Not yet cited in PubMed.
What it found
Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.
The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.
The trial behind it
Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.
Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract
introductionThe aim of this study was to investigate physical and psychosocial recovery including pain and quality of life measures, as well as lower limb functional out-comes in patients with Crowe type III-IV developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) who underwent total hip arthroplasty (THA) with subtrochanteric shortening osteotomy. MATERIALS AND
methodsThis study was conducted with a total of 45 female patients aged 32-65 with Crowe type III-IV DDH. Pre-op 30-second chair-stand Test (30-s CST), 6-minute walk test (6MWT) and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) were assessed clinically, whereas Harris Hip Score (HHS), EuroQol 5-Dimension 5-Level (EQ-5D-5 L) scale, Forgotten Joint Score-12 (FJS-12), Hip disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (HOOS), and SF-36 Quality of Life Scale (SF-36) scores were measured and recorded based on patient self reports. At least two years after the surgery, the same measurements were repeated in the patients.
resultsAt the mid-term follow-up, a significant increase was observed in the 30-s CST and 6MWT distance compared with the pre-op period (p < 0.01). Furthermore, statistically significant differences were observed in the VAS, HHS, EQ-5D-5 L, FJS-12, HOOS and SF-36 scores (p < 0.01).
conclusionsAn evaluation after THA with subtrochanteric shortening osteotomy in female patients revealed a significant improvement in functional performance and clinical scores. Also, it is an effective factor in improving joint function and quality of life in cases of severe DDH. Prospective studies are needed to understand the potential long-term effects of the procedure.
