ReviewChildhood kidney diseases2026
Kidney injury molecule-1 as a biomarker of diabetic kidney disease in children with type 1 diabetes: a systematic review and quantitative synthesis.
Review in Childhood kidney diseases, 2026. The graph could read no effect estimate from its abstract, so it casts no vote on the map. Not yet cited in PubMed.
What it found
Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.
The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.
The trial behind it
Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.
Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract
Tubulointerstitial damage is a common diabetic kidney disease (DKD) complication caused by diabetes mellitus. However, many patients may not present with albuminuria or impaired glomerular filtration rate (GFR), making it difficult to detect kidney dysfunction. Kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1) is an emerging biomarker of early DKD, reflecting tubular injury before glomerular dysfunction. We explored the association between KIM-1 and DKD in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes (T1D). We included 10 studies with 842 participants published between 2016 and 2025. A literature search of MEDLINE/PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Scopus was conducted from inception through January 5, 2026. The mean difference with a 95% confidence interval (CI) was calculated, and a
