Exploring archaeal resources for biomass-derived pentose utilization: pathways, extremozymes, and bioprocessing applications.
Review in World journal of microbiology & biotechnology, 2026. The graph could read no effect estimate from its abstract, so it casts no vote on the map. Not yet cited in PubMed.
What it found
Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.
The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.
The trial behind it
Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.
Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract
Currently, energy scarcity and the demand for sustainable carbon resources have increased interest in the conversion of biomass-derived sugars. Compared with hexoses, plant-derived pentoses, especially xylose and arabinose, are still inefficiently utilized by many microorganisms. This limitation reduces the conversion efficiency of biomass resources and highlights the need to explore new microbial pathways for pentose transformation. With the development of genomic sequencing, many previously unknown archaeal lineages have been identified from microbial dark matter, providing new opportunities to discover unconventional metabolic pathways and enzymes. Recent advances in biotechnology have further highlighted the potential of archaea in the utilization of plant pentoses. In this review, we summarize current progress in plant pentose utilization by archaea, focusing on the metabolism of xylose and arabinose. We also discuss the major metabolic pathways, key enzymes, and regulatory features involved in archaeal pentose conversion. Finally, the potential applications of archaeal pentose metabolism in industrial biotechnology, biomass conversion, and bioproduct synthesis are discussed.
